Come on down to the local Farmer’s Markets and you’ll meet all kinds of locals out for a browse. The markets are on the first and third Saturdays of the month in Dubbo, usually in the park alongside the Tourist Information Centre at the North end of Macquarie Street, but in rainy whether they often move into the RSL undercover carpark.
You’ll find all sorts of Fresh Produce including fruit and vegetables, organic produce, poultry, saltbush lamb, olive oil, wine, sourdough bread, as well as fresh coffee and food. There are also usually plant stalls - including native plants, flowers and vegetable seedlings. On special occasions you may be lucky enough to see a cooking demonstration from a local cheff or some live jazz music.

If you want to set up a stall, you need to contact Macquarie Valley Food and Wine, their contact phone is 6885 4300 or you can try mvfoodwine@yahoo.com.au.

This stand usually has apples, pears etc, and at the right time of year, figs.

I’m told by Linda and Kelvin that the spicy nut rub/marinade is good.

If you want eggs you must find this old fellow selling his eggs from the back of a truck. They are the best eggs I have ever tasted, the yolks are sweet and creamy.

More Eggs!

Or get some Chooks! We bought 2 kahki campbell ducks here a year ago and they are laying an egg each every day. The poultry lady is very passionate about her birds, and a wealth of information on all the different breeds. She hasn’t been back to Dubbo recently.

This free range coffee stand is from Newtown Providores and at the Dubbo Market’s most months. There’s always ways a line up to get Peter’s great brew.

Bryn Jones makes a rich dark feather bark honey that I go through too fast, so you’ll see me here every month buying some more. This is Bryn’s mum selling honey with Bryn in the background.

There’s always a selection of ‘home made’ jam and preserves at the markets

The potato man is a regular. He sells potatoes.

I don’t like these things, but they are big and fresh and there are lots of them.

Be careful at the native plant stand, we always buy more plants than we need! They have a good range of native tubestock in very good condition.
