If all else fails, and it’s raining in Dubbo, you can always go Ten Pin bowling, or have a game of air-hockey.
The Ten Pin Bowling is tucked away behind Orana Mall, Next Door to the Macquarie Inn.
To get there take the first left turn off the highway after Orana Mall (heading east out of Dubbo) , then turn left at the T-bend, follow this road around a bend and you will find the Bowling alley on the left. If you hit Birch Avenue you have gone too far.
Entry is free. A fantastic hands-on Kids playground - lots of fun equipment.
Learn how to throw a boomerang or play a didgeridoo. Ring before you go to make sure someone is around, they are more oriented to manufacturing than tourism, but worth a visit.

Their website is down at the moment, it is being re-developed.
4.3km on the Minore Road, (Minore Road is a right turn off the highway to Parkes, just before the golf course.)

Kidzoo is one of those giant indoor places for Kids to play, a great place to go if the Kids are driving you crazy on a rainy day. It has good clean and neat facilities including climbing equipment, a baby play area, a slippery dip, a kid’s rock climbing wall and cafeteria with outdoor eating area. Click here to read more.
The Old Dubbo Gaol is definitely worth seeing, a great historic landmark in Dubbo, and well presented. They have great little animated displays. It gives a good feel for life in Dubbo in the early 1900’s for a criminal. It’s been recently renovated to make it even better.
There’s an animated character out the front that will give you a good idea of what it’s like inside.
It’s not cheap, maybe $30 for a family, but worth it if you plan on spending a good few hours looking around. Make sure you buy a t-shirt on the way out!
On the main street - Macquarie St. Ph: 02 6884 8122.
There’s a few places in Dubbo you can go for a swim:

3. The Macquarie River
If you are a strong swimmer then there’s a couple of places where you can access the river. The easiest access if probably Sandy Beach. Take the first right off Macquarie Street heading South from LH Ford bridge, drive through Lady Cutler Park, past the cricket ovals, and down near the river you’ll find Sandy Beach.
Western Plains Zoo with over half a million visitors a year is a ’must see’ if you are in Dubbo.
Make sure you allow a couple of days - a one day admission gets you in free for a second day as well. It’s best to go as early as you can in the day when most of the animals are awake.
Hiring Bikes is a good option - take plenty of water!
The Otters are a hit for the kids, make sure you see them at a feeding time when they go chasing prawns. The Siamung Apes are crazy and fun, feeding time is just after lunch and well worth it, they put on a spectacular show.
