Great new place to eat in Dubbo. Rustic yet modern. A bit different. The food is fantastic. The desserts are even better! Great selection of flavours. South end of Macquarie St opposite the RTA. Click here to read more.

For the best food in Dubbo you can’t go past Essence restaurant at the South end of Macquarie Street. Creative, full of flavour, well presented. If you like reading delicious magazine, you’ll love essence.
They do some great entrees including Tasmanian scallops on a bed of sweet potato and various styles of fresh oyster.
They have the most tender lamb I’ve tasted, on a warm beetroot salad. Their dessert menu includes treats such as coffee brulee, lime tart with pistachio ice cream, bannana date pudding with caramel sauce, rhubarb spring rolls. The menu changes quite regularly.
They have a good range of wines, and reasonably priced kids meals.
Sorry I don’t have a photo. I get so absorbed with my meal I keep forgetting to take a photo.
It’s near Centro Mall at the South end of Macquarie Street - 248 Macquarie Street.

Best family food. At the South end of Macquarie Street, Dubbo. Sticks and Stones has fantastic wood fired Pizzas and Italian meals. Good atmosphere and excellent food. A good range of other Italian style items on the menu too.
Great risotto. Great lamb cutlets last time we were there.
Some interesting furniture around made from old wooden objects and farm equipment.
Friendly staff. Currently our favourite place for a special family meal.
If you are tossing up between here and Essence - they both have great food, I’d go here if you have kids and essence if you are on your own, just because Essence is slightly better on the food side of things, but Stricks and Stones is slightly more fun.
They have a box of Children’s toys, and a great value good quality kids menu - but I’d only take the kids if they are reasonably behaved. Last time we went to sticks and stones the kids were given some dough balls to play with after dinner!
For those on special diets, Sticks and Stones have some simple items on the menu, so they are good if you need something low in low in salicylates and amines, etc.
