Dubbo has a great 27 hole golf course on the Parkes Road. It has a modern fairways restaurant and lovely green fairways in a quiet bush setting.

December 2007 saw the opening of a new BMX track in Dubbo by Dubbo City Council. It’s a great track, a challenge for young and older riders. It’s at Powter Park, Edwin Street, Dubbo.
To get there head north up Fitzroy Street, accross the railway line into North Dubbo, keep going till you hit the school zone with Dubbo North Public School on the right and a large grassy park on the left. Turn left after the park, this is Edwin Street, the BMX track is on the right.
It’s fenced in, to make sure only pushbikes have access. And it’s free!

Peter Gaffney has been teaching golf for over 38 years. He now runs Golfwest, located at 11 Fitzroy Street, right up the north end of Fitzroy Street. It’s a reasonably priced family minigolf experience, but with an attached driving range which is good fu.

In 2007 the Junior World Orienteering Championships will be held in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia!!!!
What the Junior World Orienteering Championships are, I don’t know, but it sounds good, and they have a website here:
http://www.jwoc2007.orienteering.asn.au/
and here:
http://www.westernplainscarnival.asn.au/
Here’s what it says:
These Championships are being organised by Orienteering NSW on behalf of Orienteering Australia.
The event centre will be the city of Dubbo in the state of New South Wales (NSW). Dubbo is about 450km west of Sydney (see map). It is located in the heart of the state at the junction of major east-west and north-south road networks. It is accessible by road, rail and air. More information regarding the region can be found under the Dubbo Information option on the menu.
If you are cyclist, then this fellow from Dubbo has compiled a list of good bike rides in and around Dubbo, NSW.

3. The Macquarie River
If you are a strong swimmer then there’s a couple of places where you can access the river. The easiest access if probably Sandy Beach. Take the first right off Macquarie Street heading South from LH Ford bridge, drive through Lady Cutler Park, past the cricket ovals, and down near the river you’ll find Sandy Beach.
Dubbo has it’s own Dragon Boat and crew, they meet at Sandy Beach on Sundays at 3pm. It’s for females over 12 years. Find out more by phoning Roberta on 6881 6919 or Jess on 6882 4115 or by email info@oranadragonboat.com or check out http://oranadragonboat.com

If you are a person wanting to try out Hockey as a sport or are a player new to Dubbo, then find your way down to the hockey grounds in West Dubbo on Wednesday Nights or Saturdays. For more information you can email hockey@dubbohockey or check out the hockey web page at http://www.dubbohockey.com.au or ring the hockey clubhouse on 6882 9105.
