Goonoo Conservation Area

goonoo1.jpgGoonoo Community Conservation Area is part of the Brigalow South Bioregion, 62,500 ha of vegetation surrounded by modified and cleared agricultural land. It is a very important refuge for our wildlife and rare plants. It is home to the nationally endangered Mallee Fowl as well as threatened species such as Turquoise Parrot, Speckled Warbler and Glossy black-cockatoo. A huge bushfire occurred in Feb 2007, burning over one third of the forest. However, after summer storms, regeneration is happening fast. Information regarding access etc is available from the National Parks Office in Macquarie Street, Dubbo.
